Victoria SmethurstMyself and my family climbed Mount Snowden on 11th October 2009 to raise money for the ITP Association. Back in 2001 at the age of 14, I was diagnosed with ITP. Shocked and completely unaware of what the condition was we managed to come across the ITP Association, which proved to be a HUGE support to both my family and myself over those coming months. I underwent a variety of treatments which unfortunately only worked short term, and I spent a considerable amount of my time in hospital due to the severity of my bleeding. During this very difficult time the ITP Association was always there to offer advice and allow us to communicate with others also suffering from the condition. This support was truly invaluable and I do believe it proved to be our main source of support throughout the time I was unwell. In the November of 2001, after almost ten months of battling with ITP I had my spleen removed and I have never looked back. I feel I want to give something back for all that the Association gave to me and for this reason I would be very grateful for any money that you can spare to sponsor my climb up Snowden in aid of this very worthwhile cause.
