Marc Hylans:- fundraising bike ride

My name is Marc Hylans and I am 35 yrs old. I am married to Robert's Mum, Claire Hylans (formerly Peabody) We all live in the Church Gresley area of Swadlincote in South Derbyshire - and we are right in the middle of the wonderful National Forest I have known Robert for the past six years and I have witnessed first hand the hardships that ITP causes him. Please help the ITP Support Association to help Robert and family by making a donation. On the donation page where its says "Additional details, I would like my donation to support", please click and choose me!

Recently Robert has been prescribed danazol and azathioprine by his Haematologist, unfortunately neither have benefited him so the search goes on... Robert is a full time student at Burton College and at the moment he is studying Music Technology -BTEC. I am aware that the ITP charity gets little funding and unfortunately the only source of funding is via donations by the public and generous businesses - I also know that the volunteers are just that, and receive no payment for their stirling work. The way I intend to help the ITP Association is bike taking part in the Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride on the 21st June 2009 and I will be cycling 75 miles on the day. I intend not only raising money on the day, but also the public's awareness of this rare and unpredictable disease. I will be popping the traditional sponsor form up on at my place of work.

I have also been in contact with the local press. They will be running a feature with photographs of both me and Robert and I will be showing a link to the ITP website so any donations can be made via that. I am also going to utilise my work's Intranet - I work for a large Building Distribution Company called Saint Gobain and they have kindly allowed me to place the ITP website with the link onto the Intranet (has he put the website or a link on the Intranet?)- this will allow hundreds of staff to have a look at what you do. I am also going into my work's monthly newsletter - again plenty of coverage, it's free and all being well it will provide the ITP charity with some well deserved publicity. Right, well I have started my training plan - it is ten weeks long and it is outlined below.

I would be tremendously grateful if you would be kind enough to sponsor me with a donation. On the donation page where its says "Additional details, I would like my donation to support", please click and choose me!

Overall I am really looking forward to the ride - it will be a challenge fitting the training in around a full time job, family life and the ever mounting DIY jobs that never seem to go away, but I will work hard to ensure I raise as much money as possible and also raise the awareness about ITP both via the press, work and word of mouth.

I would like to thank the local cycle company Lloyds Cycles of Swadlincote - lloydscycles.co.uk telephone 01283 214727 for all the great advice they have given me on choosing my bike, and for all the time and effort they have given me whilst fixing and servicing my bike - thanks Noel and all the folks at Lloyds Cycles - I would still be trying to pick a bike if it wasn't for your help :)

Marc.
