Menorrhagia and ITP

• Spontaneous intermenstrual bleeding rare if platelets ᡌx109/l (post-coital bleeding may be a problem at higher levels – may not be volunteered) – often other mucosal bleeding

• Menorrhagia may be associated with other gynae problems eg fibroids, endometriosis

• Therapeutic options:

• Investigate and manage local problems

• Antifibrinolytics (Tranexamic Acid)

• Contraceptive pill

• Mirena IUD system (local progestins)
